One Divine Light, Many Forms

(Paper Print)

This piece is an antidote to our ego. We live in an increasingly polarized world. Everyone certain they’re right. Everyone convinced their version of truth is the only real one. Kabir, the renowned 15th-century philosopher of Varanasi, wrote: “Moko kahan dhoonde re bande, main to tere paas mein” — Where do you search for me, seeker? I am right beside you. Not in a temple. Not on a pilgrimage. Already here with you.

Each student carries a golden divine light rising from their hearts. Look closely. No two lights look the same. That’s the point. The divine is real in every one of them — it just takes a different shape depending on who it’s moving through. This artwork asks you to look at someone whose light looks different from yours and respect it all the same.

The front of the affirmation card says: Where do you search for me, seeker? I am right beside you.

The back of the card describes Kabir’s teaching and the meaning of the light each figure carries.
